Looked at a 98 E430, Thoughts?

Today I went to Copart for the first time and what a clean facility.

I took a look at this E430:

(It seemed to be smoking quite a bit, it was 58F out)

Engine Running (It fired right up without a jump pack!)


Overall I felt like I was in a German crown vic.

Dash was a little cracked
Cruise control stalk was broken
Taillight bulb was out
Cooling system only had water in it.
Oil was a tad overfilled and done at a gas station
There seems to be some sort of leak.
Tires had good tread but were a OK model
AC did not work
Rear parcel shelf was sun faded
Headliner was sagging
All power windows worked

I feel like I could comfortably bid $300 before fees on this.

Thoughts?

This looks really good
the smoke is likely water vapor, mine looks like that when started after sitting a long time.
the clicking is a fuel vapor evap solenoid. They do that.

If I were closer.........
