mercedes c 200 classic
E220 CDi Diesel Auto Elegance (2002)
My car has been performing beautifully , as i was accelerating earlier i heard a slight buzzing or wheezing noise , fairly faint and only upon accelerating . I was close to home but when i got to within 10 yards, NOTHING! , Engine running OK,but unable to drive forward or reverse, its pushed into a bay and is fine . I have breakdown insurance but like to fathom out a few ideas/suggestions from anyone before proceeding,.. ive left it 24 hours and it has started fine , and tried in reverse and forward and both fine but dare not take any distance.. could this be transmission fluid issue? that faint wheezing noise in connection with acceleration wouldnt be connected to any gear issue ?, regards, Brain.

Checking ATF lever sounds like good idea.
Other than that- scan the car.

Nothing has flagged up on the on board computer in connection with transmission.. i used some redex diesel fuel cleaner last week.. surely that cant be anything to do with it
