2000 Mercedes E320
2000 E320 Won't Shift
I have been reading like crazy and am at a point I can't diagnose 100% what is wrong.
Long story short I got the car about 6 months ago. The ABS and ESP started randomly coming on. I ignored it because when you shut the car off and turned it back on they went away. Also it never gave issue.
One week ago I was driving my E320 and all of the sudden the car revs like it's in Neutral. I pull over and it won't go into Park. I put it in Neutral, put on the ebrake, and shut the car off. Car goes into Park. I then start it up and put it in Drive and it starts driving but won't shift out of gear so I went slow and drove it right down the street to somewhere I could park safely and get a tow home. Also on the instrument cluster it does not show what gear the car is, it's just a solid box.
I have read about the battery, the brake light switch, the shifter itself. I am just not sure how to test and figure out exactly what it is. I only have access to a cheap scan tool but it does not read anything. I did have a drink near the shifter but it did not spill. It may have had some condensation but nothing major. I stated that because I normally don't have fountain drinks and I saw spilled drinks could cause it, but it did not spill.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Out Of Control!!
If you don't have access to factory diagnostics, then my guess is look under the floor mats or open the trunk, do you see anything unusual and finally check the ash trays, the full ones cause problems!
