My E430 got totalled 😭😭😭

How's it going guys! It's been a very long time since I came seeking for help here. All was well with my E430 was going on 198000 and it was involved in a rear end collision, then it was totalled. This happened when I was in training with the military for my job. Now I'm at my duty station and I am actively seeking for a another car. I'm 23 and new in the military and so I don't make much of an income. I really want another Mercedes, people made suggestions for me to buy Nissan versa or Ford fiesta or something cheap, but I really want another Mercedes because I think I know how to buy parts for relatively cheap and do little bit of work myself. Plus, they are great and reliable cars. So, this is where I need you guys help again. I found a 2001 CLK 55 AMG that has 114xxx miles on it for about $8000. I need your help make sure if that's a good buy and that model is not going to cost me my entire paycheck to fix within the first few months of me purchasing it. Please help me in any way possible like advise of what to do or what to be looking out for. Thank you for your help in advance!

Ours was rear-ended also. They totaled it, but I got it back and had it fixed. It was in immaculate condition (aside from the collision) and only had 110,000 miles. Still loving it today. The insurance was enough to fix it. So I was out no money, got my car back. Win-win. Only issue is it now has a salvage title. But if you plan on driving it until it dies, who cares?

Good point

That's a very good point you make but it's gone. It's been about a couple of months now. I was in the process of finishing my job training and settling in my duty station. They totalled it and its gone. It wasn't just a rear end, it was also a front end. My car got sandwiched between two, so a bit more damage than yours. My repair total was about $6800 so would've been out of $3500 so wasn't really interested in repairing it. But you know any common problems in the 2001 CLK 55 AMG? Thank you for your reply and hopefully you enjoy yours till it dies!
