SLS Dampner dripping fluid....replace?
The back story: hi frequency shaking at speeds above 60-ish; i.e. cellphone shaking on passenger seat, i feel it coming up through drivers seat and if I had to guess I'd say lef
t rear. I thought it might be a tire so I rubbed my hand on right rear a realized the tire were rather worn, more so inside edge and so was the left rear, and the front probably wouldn't pass next inspection. Although quite worn, it was even enough for my standards so bought new tires, still vibrates at speed. (I don't think it's the tires)
So I had two rims straightened, still vibrates. Now were getting somewhere,.... I discovered a dark fluid stain on driveway (twice now) under left rear of car and confirmed it is dripping from right below the LR dampner.
First pic is RR to reference to show no leakage. Second is LR; you can see oil on the lower par of dampner and a drip from suspension arm. Am I one of those fools going down the highway with a wheel shaking up and down?
So, now, do I need to get the dampner replaced? And do I need both replaced? I've heard that plenty for regular shocks, but I've also seen it on this form that these dampners may last the life of the car and unlike shocks just cause one goes doesn't mean the other will.....and at this repair cost I'm thinking of only doing one.
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions, let me know if I can provide more details.
no leak right
fluid leak left
