98 e320 engine cover

Hello,

I am posting about a 98 e320 engine cover. This car has always been serviced at an European mechanics garage. I was looking to do the oil change myself. I opened the hood and popped off the plastic engine cover when this part fell out. First time I have removed the cover. I don't know what it is or where it attaches too. Can someone please offer some guidance. Thank you.

Thank you a thousand times over. I guess this is some type of standoff to keep the cover off the manifold. The cover is definitely more stable with this piece in place. Your picture helped get it back to where it belongs, thx.

No way. It's impossible to solve any problem without posting your VIN!
