i am gettign the HD shocks and if handling still isn't what i want i'd like to change springs. should it make any difference as to what spring i might get?
will the damping, valving, etc of those shocks accept a shorter ride height and still perform properly?

If you are planning to change the shocks/dampers at a later time, I wouldn't recommend getting the HD's now. The HD's are stock length and when lowering you car, they will not preform like the Sports for example, which are shorter to accomodate the shorter springs.
