01 E430 sport radio code?
Hey all,
Radio is showing "code", how does one set this thing up purchased recently
Also the front windows roll down fine but very difficult to get up. have to keep tapping the button and pulling on it, pass and driver
Local shops solution is to replace everything....not buying it.

There is no generic code for the radio as far as I know. Have you checked the owner's manual to see if it's in there? My old E55 had it written down in there and on a sticker on top of the radio (didn't look factory though).

it's not as if this was a painful and costly dealer issue. you drive the car in, show them your registration
(proof of ownership), they dial up your VIN and provide you a simple 5 digit code. still, it's not foolproof
as the code they have in the database only applies for the original radio (or verified dealer replacement).
if your current radio was replaced by the previous owner themselves, the code the dealer has may not
work. this lookup service is typically free and a 5 minute thing
if you google enough you may stumble across an Italian web site which is a code generator for Becker,
et al, radios the site may not be quick and easy to find. folks don't make it easy for security reasons.
you can try starting here as a launching point
(i wrote my code down and taped it behind the trunk liner)

If this radio is not the original for the car, the VIN number isn't going to provide the correct code you need. I was able to get the code from the dealership's Parts Department using the serial number from the radio itself. I had to prove I owned the car with the registration (even though it didn't prove anything about legitimacy of my owning the radio that didn't match the VIN). Pull your radio, take a picture of the model and serial number and call or go to the dealership to get the code. It was free when I did it a couple years ago.
As far as the window issues you described......you need to reset them. Each button has two positions for up and two positions for down. Pressing hard on the button will get to the auto up or auto down mode. Gently pressing to the first 'click' will get the glass to move but not engage the 'auto' feature. Hold the button in the 'NON AUTO' in the down position for about 3 seconds after the glass has reached the bottom. Do this for each window including the sunroof. I was able to do this resetting procedure by using the key's unlock button by aiming it at the driver's outside door handle. Holding it pressed for 3 seconds after the glass reached the bottom....all while aiming the key still.
There are many posts about resetting the windows as well as other items....specifically after the battery had been disconnected.

If the dealer gives the code over the phone - he is violating security rules MBUSA is trying to enforce.
I had 1 car which had to have radio replaced as the code per VIN did not work.
The friendly SA come to my car, pulled the radio out (those were times where radio keys cost small fortune), copied the radio serial # and gave me correct code in the office. All for 0 dollars.
We can ***** about stealers, but when comes to radio codes and car washing, they are the best.
