Different Side View Mirrors on my E320
Hi,
I recently inherited my fathers beloved 1997 e320.
I brought it to Pepe Motors for it's 135,000 mile service check - which went relatively well with one exception.
When I picked the car up, i noticed that the sideview mirrors are different on the car.
The drivers side mirror has an amber tint to it, while the passenger side has a nicer looking blue tint to it.
I believe that the might have damaged the mirror and replaced it without telling me.
The dealer said that "maybe water got underneath the mirror and caused the discoloration" - which I definitely BS.
Anyway, they don't admit to breaking it.
Our insurance guy came to look at the car and then called us and told me that the car came with a light sensing side view mirror and that it never had two matching mirrors.
Is this true?

i have a '97 E420, and the mirrors are just as you describe. i was told the driver's side adjusts just as the rear view mirror does, but the passenger does not. that suprised me a little - why not have both sides adjust on a $60K car. go figure

You are correct, the yellow color in the driver side mirror is self dimming, hence the different color. I don't think you could be really blinded the the passenger side mirror at night...

no, you couldn't be blinded - but it looks dumb. if given the choice i'd rather have matching mirrors, and NOT have an air conditioner in my console compartment. though i'm sure my breath mints like stayiing cool on hot summer days. oh well.

I have matching side mirrors i.e. both self dimming 
I guess it depends on the option package......
