Weird lights
Hey guys, I have a question, and I hope someone can help me out.
In the winter time, after driving my car for a while, my gas light flashes, and then my Check engine light comes on. The car is running fine, and it only happens if it is really cold out and I have been driving for awhile. After I turn the car off, and restart it the gas light goes off, but the CEL stays on.
Has anyone ever experienced this, and if so what is the solution. Thank you

Put it on a Star diagnostic scanner and you'll most likely have the answer in about five minutes. You'll have to use the 38-pin connector under the hood. If you use an OBD-2 scanner under the dash, it will only connect to the engine control unit, not any of the other modules.

A flashing gas light is telling you there is a leak in the Evap system (fuel tank, fuel cap, purge valve, etc). Usually this pops up when someone leaves there fuel cap off after refilling and then driving off. Definitely check the fault code to see if you can get a hint, but most likely you will just get a fault saying there is a minor or gross leak in the evap system.
