A way to improve Bose sound quality in W210 system free

The W210 is one of my favorite Mercedes-Benz models. They are built well, a modern classic design, and very practical. One thing that I noticed after hearing the newer Harmon Kardon systems in some of the newer models (in particular a W209 CLK and my W221 S600) is that the W210 Bose system is really lacking in the low frequency range.

Accessing the COMAND through Star Diagnosis/DAS, there is a setting for DSP, which I assume is Digital Signal Processing. Every W210 I have checked this setting on is set to "Satz11." I am assuming since this CD-based COMAND was used in several different models of Mercedes vehicles, and Bose have always claimed to "tune" the system to the specific properties of the interior, including the distance the speakers are located from the listeners, etc. It only makes sense these other settings are configured for the interiors of other models, such as the W203, W163, etc. I have found that changing this setting from "Satz11" to "Satz1" dramatically increases the low-end response of the system, so much I have almost abandoned the idea of adding a supplemental subwoofer in the trunk to reproduce the low-end range in music. I am not looking for a boomy sound by any means - just a clean sound that is balanced well. This improvement made a significant difference in the listening pleasure of my factory Bose W210 COMAND-based system.

I'm going to try this in the next couple of days. Did you connect Star/DAS via the port in the car or the round thing under the hood?

I haven't had a problem with volume, it depends on what source you're using. I have an LGV20 and have no problem with volume.

No, just the sound of the cassette spinning.

New radio with an AUX/Bluetooth input and Spotify or another online music streaming app on your phone. Spotify premium costs $10 a month. Totally worth it IMO.

If you don't have unlimited data, you may not want to go this route.

I assume most people have phones. I only know one person that doesn't have one, he's old and hates technology.

Would this work on a S550?
