W210 with Vogtland & Koni

Guys,

Here we go, just finished installed with Koni sport adjustable and Vogtland Springs. Pad size: front #3 bump, rear #1 bump. I think the front is way too high, 3 finger gap. Rear 1 finger gap. Carlsson 2/6 18" wheels 235/40/18 front, 265/35/18
street with uphill slope.
Do you guys think I need adjustable camber?
uneven street level though with uphill

If I would replace with #4 or 5 rear spring pad, do I still need adj. camber arms. may be it is better to purchase one, so will help out the uneven wear on the tires. what do yo guys think?

You really need to change the front pads to bring the front down IMHO. Your rear camber is not that bad but if you'd like to correct it, just order the rear camber arms from speedybenz as we prev. discussed. With the way your car sits right now I would use #1 pads in the front and that would level your car out nicely and get rid of that huge gap.

I would suggest putting #1 pads in the front and I don't think you need a camber kit for the rear.

So how is the ride? How do you have the Koni's set?

ride

I have my Koni's front set at soft, rear set at 50% (soft-firm). I think it was a little to harsh, becuase you can really feel all the bumps on the road. I think I'll go back change the rear ones to soft, since the spring is low, so hopefully shocks will compensate that.

Well, I'll get the #1 pads for the front from dealer hopfully will bring the car to the level. So for the rear higher pads aren't necessary?

thanks, guys!

Front pad is at #3, I wish there were some #1 pad around, now I got to do it all over again . But that's ok, it shouldn't take too long since we did once before already. The rear installations was much easier than the front. (no spring compressor needed for all 4 corners. just need to drop the lower control arms, BE CAREFUL when you drop the lower control arm, the old spring will try to pop out. you would use a jack and slow lowering it. do it at your own risk ) If you are not sure, I would recommended to have prefessional installed. If you would go with Vogtland Spring, make sure you have Koni adjustable shocks and set to full soft. otherwise since the rear springs drops significantly lower than the front, the rides would be harsh.
Overall, I liked the setup. just make sure you have the right pads. #1 pad all the way around.

We have autozone here in town also, I think they have free rentals, they hold the deposit until you returns back to them. Are you sure you want to use the spring compressor? I think dropping the lower controller arm is easier. I don't know, either way is ok. Just Becareful!!! The only thing you have to watch out for is the spring will release the tension and pop out. When install back the lower controller arm, it is hard to line-up the hole to secure the bolts. Two jacks are needed and a C-clamp to maneuver the arm in to the right position let the bolt easier to fit thru the hole.

That's nice KWik, I wish I can access with this type of spring compressor, it would really save a lot of time with this particular kind. This one would be easier than dropping the controller arms. I couldn't find anybody in town has that. All we have in town is the cheap kind you can rent with two clamps on both end with a hook, and cramped down.

Sorry for the late reply - been travelling.

Sexy looking springs and the drop is a vast improvement. But yes, I agree, some pad adjustment is definitely needed. You may also like to consider swapping the fronts with the back for a tilted look..

I thought the front pad's diameter is larger than the back, I just ordered two #1 pads for the front from the dealer yesterday.

#3 rear pads

yeap, front looks pretty high, 3 figer gaps. I think each # of pads is like 5mm. so if use #1 pad would only drops about 10mm more, which is about a finger height. I probabaly need to buy either #3 or #2 for the rear pad to balanced out. But I saw a W211 E55 over the weeknd, I went there and stick my fingers to measure the gaps , it has about 2 fingers in the front and 1.5 finger at the back. what you think? I think I am gonna see what it looks like after #1 pad installed at the front.

You don't have a lot of crap in the trunk like me do you? Mine looks low in the back (especially with the front fender arch is higher than the back) still but it is actually fairly level as you can see from my sig pic. I responded to your PM BTW.

Nope, I don't have whole lots of things in the trunk, just a set of golf clubs once in a while. What # pads are yo running with? #1 all the way around?

If Vogtland's are meant to be lower, I seriously think the cars in Asia and Europe are set higher than the US versions (that's what I observed on the stock cars...but dunno if its true, or how but it seems that way).

According to the websites, the drops are...

Eibach = 1.2" (30mm)
Vogtland = 1.6" (40mm)
