Identify This Part, The GameSHOW! SOLVED

I have no prizes. But I do have a game designed to help me find the importance of this broken part and you can be FIRST to identify and show your part prowess!

Say what is that area for?

Holy Hannah, look at that split!

Mr. Finger says, 'that no good'!

Thanks Raymond! That's the boot valve! It's part of the emissions system and despite I'm not familiar with that part and specifically what it does I do know I have an engine light on issue and an EVAP code problem. Despite a replaced plunger valve, replaced gas tank, and all associated parts, I still have that engine light on and code.

I'm hoping this 3 dollar part that is split fixes it! Thanks Raymond!

i'm not familiar with the CDI so I apologize if I mis-labeled it for you. I only had the PDF to view
and look through. I will spend a little time today learning about what a boot valve is

No apology needed it sent me in the right direction and now I've got the full pdf parts manual That's how I located that and the associated part number which is:
1170780981 - Changeover valve insulator
5.0L

It's got a screen on the bottom as opposed to this being just a 'plug' persay. It controls the amount of air going into the emissions system. If this part is broken or missing you'll have an EVAP code and a check engine light. Seeing as this part is split right to the end almost, I think it's fair to suggest that after switching out the purge valve, this would be the next part (should have been the first part) to replace.

I'm hoping I've got that danged evap code fixed, I have a new registration to have to go to in July!

Yeah in the end the actual part I ordered at the Benz dealer was:
MERCEDES BENZ 1170780981 Genuine OEM Factory Original Valve Insulator
7 bucks with tax. Will arrive on Thursday. Sure hoping this fixes that danged flashing gas light/engine light p0455 code.
