Cigarette Lighter Socket

'01E430: Since day one, my Escort radar plug and another dual type plug seem too small for the MB cigarette lighter socket. Anyone have this problem? I have to constantly open up the springs for them to fit in the lighter socket snugly. They both fit well in all my other vehicles except for the Benz. Any comments?

I think there should an adopter ring of some sort to make the plug seat properly in the lighter socket. Chcek in the radar detector box to be sure.

I have a 7500 and no problem

I havent had any problems with the radar detector or the phone. They work great in the new C class. I have a 911 that I have that problem with. The thing just doesnt fit at all so Im forced to use the cordless model which is not as sensitive.

I had the same problem with my Valentine One. The simple solution is to go to the nearest RadioShack and purchase for less than $5 an adaptor/extension cord for a cigarette lighter plug. Works like a charm.

Thumbs down

Hi everybody, new to the forum here... i have the same problem on my E class with my valentine one. It seems t be very loose inside the socket. I'm not sure if I damaged the socket or not, because the lighter doesn't even light anymore. The radar detector works, just loose, but the lighter doesn't light (not that I smoke anyway)
