Does not accelerate, high RPM's

Hi everyone,

I have E320 base sedan, 67K . The car just stopped accelerating in the middle of driving. Keep squeezing gas pedal but the speed does not get above 15 mph. RPMS are high when I try to accelerate. Normal RPMs when idling or going 10 mph. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

A gaggle of MB's
Can be a couple of things - can be "transmission limp mode" - where the transmission is protecting itself - electronic error signals or actual mechanical failure put it into that Limp Home mode.

1. Check tranny fluid level - search this forum for that procedure. With your "age" - if the transmission has not been serviced - you need to consider fresh tranny fluid to correct level

2. Failing/Failed Tranny Adapter plug - which leaks internally at that plug - then can "wick up" the harness to the Transmission Control Module" in the engine compartment - so a search - MB/MOPAR genuine part only like $14 & can of $9 MAF spray to clean/decontaminate the TCM

3. Once tranny fluid level (or service) & fresh tranny adapter plug & TCM cleaning - then google "W210 transmission reset" - which will not clear a "hard" fault - but "can" clear "soft" faults

E320 BlueTec
Talking Sounds Familiar

Just got our E320 Bluetec back from mechanic after having the same loss of acceleration issues.
Specifically, good turbo boost and acceleration at start up, then fail! Limp mode low power sadness.
Heartbreaking lack of power, pull over turn off and restart, then BOOM, power restored for one shot!

Dealer solution: Replace Turbo, Intake and Exhaust manifolds, cost estimate $5400.
Second Mechanic tried a few things, had trouble interpreting codes, gave similar diagnosis, cost estimate $4500.
Third mechanic (Hail Mary suggestion before dumping car) saw conflicting codes and started taking intake/turbo system apart to inspect.
Found high pressure (post turbo) hose split on underside.
Split pops open, lose boost, car goes limp.
New hose:$139, labor $125.

Result?
Power restored, mileage improved, E320 back!
Lovin' It!
