98 E320-Cannot Lock Car Doors

I picked up a 1998 E320 yesterday. The doors will lock from the inside of the car using dash mounted button, but will not lock from the outside.

Dash mounted button will not operate when a door is open. All doors but driver door will lock manually by pushing down button. It does not have the "bouncing" issue that I've seen on various threads & YouTube searches.

Any suggestions?

By outside, do you mean using the key fob? Do the doors unlock using the key fob? That model uses a vacuum pump to lock/unlock the doors. Pull an internet search on "1998 E320 vacuum lock actuator" and read what it pulls up. Pelican Parts has some good writeups on this. Usually, when the actuators go bad, they will lock but not unlock.

Hello, may be the door lock actuator or a vacuum hoses...it may be in one door but if the four doors same time ,then i think you have to check vacuum hoses all carefully to determine where is the air leak and first try to hear the leak to determine the location then check it...
