Question fog light glass replacement - HELP

my fog light lens needs replacing on e220 2001 model year.
it is the light on the lower front skirt.

how do i gain access to the lamp to replace the glass. ?

there is a small access cover directly under the unit but i think this is just for bulb replacement.

how many screws/bolts also hold it in place ?

thanks

I don't know exactly how on the MY00+ but I assume it's not that far off from the MY96-99 models. Open the access door and look towards the bottom front of the foglight, there should be 1 screw there and then at the top of the back, there should be another one there. There is also 1 peg that it just slips into on the top front and when you remove the 2 screws, it slips right out. It's a bit difficult to get in there unless you really jack up the car high or put it on a lift at a shop. On the lift it was a piece of cake removing the fog. Give it a look and see if it's the same as what I've described...

If I remember correctly, on my 98 there are two plastic pegs (not one) . And it takes a little effort to pull out (doen't slip out easily). You need to pull straight back, if you try to get one side out first at an angle you will break the plastic peg. Don't ask me how I know

You're right, there are 2 plastic pegs now that I think of it but mine didn't take much force at all to pull them out...
