I will certainly buy another Benz regardless of whether or not I get free service. Personally I am kind of glad that they are dropping the free service, as this will allow them to make their cars more reliable and reinstill a sense of security in the consumer.

Personally I think they have a lot of nerve to drop free maintenance at a time when they are sitting in the 89th spot on the CR quality listings.

First you fix the problems you have with your product, increase it's quality while rebuilding the reputation - then put out your feelers - do some surveys to see if people feel the car is back up to snuff, and THEN and only THEN should they drop it. Since they decided to drop the free maintenance - my next car will be a Lexus.

I'd buy new A6 all free including brake pads. Why buy MB? Lot quality problems and everything expensive. I am not crazy to put hard earned money for three points star. MB should seriously think about future.

I think the free maint. is a nice little help actually. Why cant we enjoy both reliable longevity and some perks too?IMHO I have more confidence in my benz than most US and some Asian vehicles out there for safety, and I feel the service people liasons truely care. But that is where the story shifts.I have had numerous complaints about the mechanics(so called) interest in making the customer happy. The need a shakeup in cleanliness and maybe even some better experienced personnel.

Huh, that comment makes no sense at all! I would be a little leary about buying a car that had free maintenance and then dropped it......espically after how poorly they have performed in the past. There is no doubt that I would feel more comfortable buying a car with EVERYTHING covered under the warranty.

yeah! exactly - I second that emotion. They picked a "****-poor" time to drop free maintenance.

Hyundai was sued by every state in the union for substandard cars - how did they rebound? They fired all of their suppliers, and started over, revamped their factories, and offered the most comprehensive warranty in automobile history. This saved the brand (not that I'd want to venture on owning one).

Chrysler did the same thing when they were in trouble - they came out with that 5/yr//50000 mile and stuck with it. It was there way of saying - we've improved, and we will put our money where our mouths are.
