1998 e320 side marker light.
I have a 1998 e320 w210. Lamp defective alarm . I changed out both side, marker bulbs to led and lamp defective, alarm still there. Does it have to do with the ,resistance ,of the led that it's not picking up that the light is working ?

Out Of Control!!
It has to do with you screwing around with led when your system is not set up for led. Go back to stock and then by your girlfriend a hot dog.

yes the bulb integrity warning system is based on resistance/current measures for all of
the bulbs on the exterior of the vehicle. that said, I do have LED in a number of sockets
outside such as the 'city light" as well as within the side marker. it may take a little
shopping around to ensure that the LED bulb you select were constructed to coexist
with the CANBUS system in happy fashion. some sellers will state this clearly in
their ads.
there is a forum member who posts here quite a bit "AZN Optics" who should be
up to speed on the lighting needs of the w210. or, you can continue to search
the posts on this forum for others who may have first hand experience identifying
the resistor size needed to wire into your bulb.
be careful on resistor selection as can heat up more than the small enclosure
within the side marker housing can dissipate efficiently

You will need canbus enabled LEDs, not just any generic ones. We have these available that will work.
