Driver door window rattle
Lately my 2002 e430 has started to develop a rattle when driving over rough roads. It sounds like the driver's door window is loose, but can't be sure. With the window all the way up, there is a rattle from inside the door panel. If I lower the window a few millimeters, it gets quieter, but it is still there. Also, If I push on the door panel, the rattle decreases. Is there any common pieces or parts to look for if I remove the door panel? Car has 223k miles and this is the only rattle...I'd like to keep it feeling and sounding nice and solid. Thanks!

i am not going to make any wild guesses here. the front regulators are far less likely
to go belly up than the rears, based on their respective designs. that said, i would
simply suggest opening up the panel and watch the regulator cycle through as you
raise and lower the window. so basically, you'd be performing an exploratory.
here is why: if you wait, the sound may be a harbinger of things to come and
then you're really not going to be happy if the window fails to raise during inclement
weather. so you may as well take preemptive measures. aftermarket regulators
are very inexpensive. the rears going out is a matter of when vs if.

Yea...I need to take the door panel off and give it a good look, cycle the window and see if anything looks loose. It'
It's funny....my wife and kids are under strict orders to never lower the rear windows due to the impending regulator failure...haha.
