My 2002 E430 4Matic was recently rear ended, and I'm in search of a new rear bumper cover. My local junkyard has 1997 E-Class with a pristine rear end. Will its rear bumper cover fit my car? My only concern is that the junkyard car is pre-facelift while my car is post-facelift

I don't have the definitive answer to your question with respect to the bumper covering. but
the bumpers themselves do not interchange between 1996-99 vs 2000-02

I know that a facelift rear bumper cover will fit a pre-facelift car, you have to get the facelift bumper supports though.
