Shifter jumping and vibrating like crazy
So after 2 years I put my Mercedes E430 back on the road and put all new tires on it etc. So just recently the car started developing a vibration and after some research I narrowed it down to the flex joint in front. Inspection showed pretty good amount of cracking. So as I waited for the parts to come in the car decided it really wants to start vibrating at the shifter and now it’s jumping up and down. It has gotten so bad that it’s scary to drive. I went ahead and replaced the front flex disc and it did not fix the problem. As I was messing with the driveshaft I can hear what sounds like grinding. Could this be a bad center bearing? The kicker, doesn’t do it in reverse so I’m little lost. Anyone ever encounter these symptoms?

Tranny can only "jump" if BOTH the two engine mounts and the tranny mount are bad... a bit of a tight squeeze fitting fresh engine mounts in your V8... the China knockoff's don't last long at all ... Lemfoerder are good ... do internet parts shopping using your VIN# ... should be stickies here or benzworld for the DIY.. or check W210 AMG forums

I know the engine mounts are bad as they have been bad a longtime but I don't feel like having the bad mounts would cause this vibration/grinding feel to it. I should post some videos. Its crazy as it started out of nowhere.

Ok never mind, things just turned for the worse. I just went to drive the car to record a video of what its doing and as I backed out of the driveway, I went to go in drive to start driving and it popped out of gear into neutral. I had to physically and with a little force hold it in drive to pull back in the driveway. FML
