Help with timing case cover on 1998 e-430

I am totally stumped with the last step in removing my timing case cover. I have removed the alternator, secondary O2 pump, water pump, fan shroud, fan clutch, fan, valve covers and ac compressor. I have also removed every bolt I can find including 4 via front of oil pan, 4 via heads and many others. My problem is getting the cover separated from the engine block. I have been using a rubber mallet around the edges and see no signs of it separating from block. Any suggestion as to what I'm missing? Do I need to remove heads? Thank You in advance for your help.
