97 e320 motor replacement

Hi I have a 97 e320 and the Trans cooler from the radiator let coolant into transmission, now I'm replacing the transmission with a good used transmission and the TCU from a 97 e320 parts car, my question is will I have to have the trans or the TCU or both flashed or reprogrammed to the car, is there a certain procedure to follow, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Is the problem with the transmission or the TCU---if just with the transmission, WTF would you use a different TCU----you gotta stop listening to your girlfriend! However the transmission also has to be the same.

So blutoes, the car was in limp mode when I removed the bad transmission, the donor trans was working fine when removed from donor car, once the donor trans is installed (same part #'s) in the car and ready to go will it be out of limp mode or go out of limp mode on it's own or will I have to have it done somewhere?

Dear sons of Sicily, your learning, however the limp mode fault is stored in the ECU and TCU,before you start the car do a quick test and clear both modules now you are ready to go get pizza. Remember that the shift patterns will adjust as you go through ten drive cycles, so don't come whining back-------the car shifts differently--it may be patient and eat lots of takeout pizza.

You mean test and clear with a MB star C3 Scan tool or take it somewhere that can do that?

Any scan tool that can read the modules will do, MB DAS(aka star for the less learned) would be the best!
