2001 e320 wagon hatch lock cycles continuously
Hello,
Yesterday evening we washed our 2001 e320 wagon (very dirty). We were awakened at 4am to the clunking sound of the rear hatch locking mechanism continuously cycling. The hatch was shut tightly, but the mechanism kept cycling as if it were trying to pull it into place and latch. I had to leave the hatch slightly ajar for the rest of the night. This morning at 9, the problem remains.
I tried opening and re-closing multiple times, locking and unlocking the car, and restarting the car.
Any suggestions?
Kyle

Like a "machine gun" - if you can get back into the panel - you can try to disconnect the actuator - spray the connector both sides with MAF spray "might" work - normally in this scenario you may need to replace that actuator.
