I currently lost my 1999 Mercedes e320 key and looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. I tought maybe I could have left it in the trunk i tried opening it they the driver side but the car needed to be on so I went on ahead to look at the trunk when I pushed in where you put the key and it poped right open but no key I also checked there but since it the trunk open without a key does that mean the key is near by or is this a flaw. How much would I be looking on spending on a replacement key ?

Last time i got a new smart key it was around $300. On the bright side, it was the new style rounder key with chrome on the outsides.

I hope you find it because, as others have said, you can only get it from the dealer. It is considered one of the items on their
"Theft Relevant Parts" list so you will need to tow or have a MB certified locksmith skilled person come out to verify that you
are the owner of the vehicle. Yes, the days of inexpensive Smartkeys no longer exist. You will cry if I tell you what I paid for
my Chrome cased Smartkey 5+ yrs ago. MBUSA implemented the theft relevant parts policy shortly after to include the key.
Owners should really have more than one key anyway. Decades later, MB is known to cease making certain keys available,
leaving the owners high and dry and with no reasonable alternative (lawsuits pending as a result).

Shop around. Last time, about 3 years ago chrome key cost me $162 and did not have to show the car.
That was at newly opened dealership, who placed in suburbans was starving for business.
If the service keys (no remote) are still available - they are much cheaper.
