Dash lights problem

I have a 99 Mercedes E320. I have noticed that lately as i am driving the car my digital miles display, the time and digital temperature display gets dimmer and dimmer as im driving until eventually the display fades all the way out. ...Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks

I would begin by inspecting the battery and alternator. Do any of the other interior lights flicker or dim?

It kind of sounds like an issue w/ the cluster itself if you’re not exhibiting any other light issues. Pull it out and check all the connections.

There are no other issues with any of the other lights. It seems like since i ve been using my heat, this issue has occurred. Today on my way home, the time, mileage and temperature display faded all the way out, the display was illuminating that orangish yellowish color, but all the numbers were faded out

A gaggle of MB's
If it was me - I would replace those "self-dimming" cluster bulbs.... there should be a photo DIY around somewhere - cluster gets pulled - twist/caps... eezee peezee

Change out the bulbs for all the displays since you will be needing to pull out the instrument cluster. Plenty of how-to DIY on the cluster removal.
Then temporarily reinstalling the cluster plugs and test. If they start dimming out again, then its your ribbon(s)that are the issue. In this situation, you can check on shops that perform
ribbon repairs on the clusters.
