Sharing info/video on 38-pin code clearing tool for limp home on 722.6 transmission
After all these years, the problems with the bushings in the W210 (and other Mercedes) 5G-Tronic 5-speed transmissions that make them leak/wick oil into the transmission control unit causing limp home mode are well understood, including how to clear codes with certain non-Mercedes, non-STAR code tools, but the 38 pin diagnostic connectors on the oldest W210's can be a real obstacle, sending do-it-yourselfers begging the dealer to clear their code.
This video covers cleaning up the TCU and a quick shot of the bushing replacement, but the main value is intended to be the detail on the specific Autel scanner and its 38-pin adapter that let me do the previously unthinkable, clear my own limp-home W211 without a STAR tool.
