worn break rotors

About six month ago I bought a pre-owned 2000E320. I just noticed that the front rotors are 1/32" worn down. The surface of the rotors is smooth and I dont notice any abnormal signs during breaking, but the car does have a humming sound which seams to be louder after the car gets washed. The car came with after market CEC type 129 wheels. The tire is a Pirelly 225/40ZR18-N1
I put about 2000 miles on the odometer. I wonder if the dealer ship should replace the rotors under the still existing limited waranty. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Peter

Unless the rotor thickness is below minimum specs, which I believe is 25.4 millimeters on your car, you shouldn't need replacement. Rotors are not a warranty item, its something you'll have to pay for when the time comes.

Should the rotors be replaced with stock or something from aftermarket like BALO?

Aftermarket Brembo rotors are approximately the same price as MB rotors, so I would suggest going with them. The rotors alone, don't do much for performance, but they do add a nice look.

You can also take the opportunity to go cross drilled or slotted - better yet, Gran Turismo (big brake).

Now is also the time to change your brake pads and brake fluid. There are LOW-DUST (carbon-kevlar) pads to choose from also.

TECH INFO / DISCLAIMER - Remember that there will always be dust generated by any two friction surfaces. High friction temperatures cause regular pads to "carbonize" - thus the black dust on your wheels.

Kevlar or aramid fibers can operate at higher temperature unlike factory pads they do not carbonize at the operating range of the pads, thus no black dust on your wheels.

Just like what Mach430 said, Brembo would be a good choice for factory replacements. http://www.brembo.com

Balo, Zimmerman and ATE are also aftermarket replacements that you can consider (ATE makes factory brake systems for many AMG cars).

Finally make sure you follow the proper bedding/brake-in procedure.
