Wierd stuff 97 e320
Just got my car back on the road. The car was hit while parked. I had to get the steering lock changed out as the key would not turn to start the vehicle. Now that the repairs have been made I can't open the windows, sunroof or use the central locking to lock the car. Any one have any idea of what I need to do?

I have a 1997 E320. The car has sat for some time. It was damaged from an accident and I have repaired the damage(another story). The car was running but hard to start so I replaced the battery. Before the battery was replaced the car ran but the windows and sunroof would not open. With the new battery the car will run but the windows, sunroof, central locking system, mirrors and seat adjusters don’t work. The alarm light flashes on the dash while the car is running then the alarm goes off. There is as clicking noise near the battery prior to the alarm going off.
This is crazy. The car wasn’t doing this before the battery was changed.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

Sound like immobilizer is acting.
From what I remember 1997 has blade key with immobilizing chip in the remote.
When you had locks & key (?) replaced, did they move the chip to new key?

OK, so how they made new lock working with old key?
As I said, the key has a chip in remote nose, while ignition locks has a ring who pick the signal from the chip.
Did they reinstall the ring properly?
We can keep exchanging pieces of information forever, so how about some pictures?
