Electrical Gremlin '96 W210 - advice please..
Hello,
I have (created?) a strange electrical gremlin that I could really use some advice with please.
I am new to Mercedes, I'm more of a BMW (E39) guy, but I have a friend's W210 in for some much needed repairs.
Anyway, as a last minute thing I disconnected the ECU to inspect and clean, plugged it back in and half the electrics were not working.took out ECU and discovered the hinge at the bottom of the harness plug was snapped off, causing the plug to not seat properly.
Glued the hinge back to harness plug. Exactly in the position it was.
Put it all back together and all electrics came back, but now the wiper is possessed.
They run on for about 8 sweeps before parking where they like, fastest speed slows to medium before parking wherever it likes, etc. Absolutely no consistency to them.
Also front left (passenger) window is now not responsive.everything else works as normal.I cant believe this is still a connectivity issue, as the erratic behavior of the wipers is indicating something else, or?
Full disclosure: I may have disconnected ECU initially with battery power still live.
The owner needs the car back, and I don't want to send it out in this state.
I could really use some advice please.
Thanks in advance.

i have no experience with such an ailment but wouldn't be easier to have someone with a factory type multiplexer
dock with your car to scan for faults and help guide you closer to the fix?

Welcome Pete96w210,
Based on what you did [Full disclosure: I may have disconnected ECU initially with battery power still live.]
You could try resetting the wipers and the windows.
