Aux water cooling pump, working?

I have a 2000 E430and am having AC issues. no cooling on left side, while passenger side is fine. In my search for resolving this issue the aux water cooling pump was mentioned. I have literally never heard this pump operate and I have owned this car for about 6 years. It is my understanding the operation of this pump is more heat related than AC related. I have two questions, can the aux water pump be part of this problem, and if the pump isn't operating what are the consequences?

The auxiliary water pump is used to circulate hot coolant through the interior heater while the engine is turned off. Your issues sounds like a flapper valve is not opening/closing. First thing to check is to see if the vacuum line controlling the valves has broken and if not that, to check out the duo-valve. Photo shows both the duo-valve and the vacuum line in question. Benzworld and Pelican Parts have some good DIY in the W210 sections.

Bbirdwell, Hey, I know the stars at night are big and bright in your neighborhood and I greatly appreciate your reply. Yours was the only reply. After looking at Benzworld it became obvious this problem is not uncommon. Still only 1.

You can do full AC troubleshooting in about 90 seconds.
I posted links how to troubleshoot all over the forum, but if you have problem to find it, write it here.

A gaggle of MB's
Do the diagnostic as Kai has posted - frankly I have seen low refrigerant cause more 1-side-hot-1-side-cold - frankly I have only seen 1-2 caused by the Duo Valve.

Start with the diagnostic and post the results and go from there - that's the best road..
