Transmission went out all of a sudden...No warning.
Hi any help is much appreciated. I recently bought A 2000 E320 4matic and absolutely love it. Engine runs beautiful.... like a Bat out of hell. The only thing I've had to do to it was replace the battery. I found out quickly she is temperamental and won't budge if things aren't running smoothly. Head 244,000 miles but has been well taken care of. 2 days ago I came home and parked the car went to leave the next morning and the car wouldn't come out of park. I manually took it out of park with the switch under the shifter. Drove 1/2 mile to the store and the car would not shift. It was making a high pitched whirling sound. I Drove it home and parked it.
That evening my husband took a look at it and driveit around the block and all the transmission fluid leaked out so the wary around the block. It hadn't even leaked prior to this. Since then it hasn't been started or moved don't want to damage anything else......whatcould the problem bee and how do i fix it???? If it's an easy enough fix i don't mind doing it myself. I don't mind wrenching just because I'm a girl....my hands will wash easy enough. Any help i would appreciate

A described, sounds like a torque converter issue---the transmission repairs may exceed the value of the vehicle therefore get some expert transmission quotes

sounds like the car went into limp mode...for a reason. by force driving it (you didn't mention your speed) it may have
pushed it over the cliff. it isn't suppose to shift so whomever suggested the bypass to allow you to shift out of Park
may have done you a disservice. best thing now is to cross your fingers and have an MB multiplexor connected
in order to pull the engine/transmission trouble codes
