2002 E320 Transmission Issues
A month and a half ago, I bought a E320 on ebay, sight unseen from california. It was shipped to my house in Texas. The transmission hasnt worked right since I bought it, and the seller has been a jackass. Anyway, I replaced the conductor plate. That didnt help it. I broke down and took it to the dealer. they said it was a defective valve body. An inde shop ive used before with old germans transmissions took a look at it, took the valve body apart, cleaned some gunk out of it, and put it back in. And he replaced 2 defective solenoids. They also discovered out that the tcm in the car wasn't the correct one. Obviously the car had trouble before leaving the west coast, even though the seller denied it. My mechanic said there is a good chance that if I got the correct computer, it would shift again. Found one on ebay, and nothing. I get first gear when i start the car, then it shifts to second, then it is stuck in limp home mode. I can get 4th or 5th if i get up to speed, pop it into neutral, then back to drive. it will down shift back to second when i come to a stop. I tried to take it back to the first mercedes dealership to see about reflashing the new tcm, and they tried to tell me that you cant rebuild a valve body, and they are coded to the car. Its a chunk of aluminium with 6 solenoids. Im thinking about trying another mb dealership, but they want $350 to look at it. Any advice at this point would be handy
