wheel fitment problems
I have a 2000 E430 sportpackage I just bought a set of wheels on ebay that were promised they would fit, they are 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the back. But the front inner lip of the wheels is rubbing against the metal axal cover, looks like the problem would be solved if the wheel was moved out 5 - 10 mm or so, is there a solution so that will allow these wheels to fit on my car? Please HELP I would appricate any feed back!!!

Get a spacer. Make sure you get a good one. Also, since the car is hub centric, you may need as hub ring as well. This must be done by someone who know the job, otherwise, you may experience vibration at highspeed.
As reputable wheels shop should be able to fix this problem.

Spacers that are hubcentric are one piece and fit straight into the slot of the OEM hubcentric ring in the wheel. You may need to remove the OEM ring that is attached to the OEM wheel (or sometimes stuck on the axle, depending on where it decides to attach itself). Another important thing to remember is you need the right length bolts - too long and you'll get rubbing on the handbrake assembly, too short and it'll be dangerous (if it holds the wheel at all).

As for the bolts, it depends on the design of the wheel, best is to check how much the bolts stick out at the back of the OEM wheel (with the OEM bolts) and get bolts that will give you the same or close number of threads with the spacer you get.
Wheels

Man, those wheels came from an SL (according to the ad). I think that means your rears are in the range of ET40+ offsets, that why it not surprising you're rubbing on the inside. If they are real AMG's there should be offset measurements casted onto the insides of the spokes, (should say ET??). Best to read them, than for me to guess. However, don't mean to discourage but I warn that long bolts for spacers of 5mm+ are expensive and difficult to come by..........
