Good day all
Im hoping someone can assist with advice on this issue I currently. I always had very high fuel consumption on my W210 E280. I scanned for codes using my iCarsoft MB V1.0 at the 38pin connetor and I got a P0100 code. I have since replaced the maf with a brand new Bosch unit. Error code then went into 'Historic code" as soon as the new maf went in and I first starded the car.
I havent driven the car as yet, ast I have fuel mixing with my engine oil, as well as a very heavy lip burning smell coming out of the exhaust pipe. Kinda like a sulpher/strong smell. I Have no other codes coming up, besides the historic P0100 mentioned above.
If anybody, can assist so I can get this sorted pls, I would greatly appreciate it. Please
Regards
Cedric

Hi. It's the other way around. I have excessive fuel consumption, strong fuel/sulpher smell and fuel mixing with my engine oil. Pulled the sipstick and it smells of fuel. Oil much thinner than what is was before. Never even did 300km with that oil. Compression test was done and all found to be within spec.
I'm at a Los with this one, pls guys would appreciate some advice.

A sulfur smell indicates the catalytic converter.Sounds to me either a gasket has failed or a hose was hooked up wrongly as these 2 systems shouldn't be meeting. You're correct not to drive the vehicle until this is solved as doing so could cause even more damage. Typically when head gaskets fail, it's coolant mixing with the oil.
I might be describing it wrong, its a severe burning lips fuelish smell. It is definately fuel mixing with the oil. Tailpipe also has a wetish feel to it. Smelt that and I can clearly smell fuel. As if its not even being burned up, or injecting all the time type of thing
