Driver side power window problem
Hello Group,
I have an odd situation regarding the D/S power window function.
It will go up, no problem, but it will not go down.
I replaced the switch assembly in the center console, no luck. disassembled the door, removed the motor from the regulator... the regulator travels smoothly when I push it up and down by hand.
I put the probes of my multimeter into the socket of the window motor plug and I get 12.7 v/dc when pressing UP on switch, but get no power when pressing switch DOWN.
I tested the motor itself for simple continuity and get an audible signal from the meter. Not sure if that has any relevance.
I left the window glass in the down position and reinstalled the motor. The window goes up, no problem, but will not go down. With the key in ACC position, I can hear a faint sound when pressing the switch down. It sounds like it may be coming from inside the dash perhaps... but not really sure. Pressing switch UP, I can hear the motor trying to push the window up.
It cant be the fuse because the motor works but in only one direction... What could possibly the issue? Is there a relay for the just driver's side window? All other windows work flawlessly.
Any ideas, suggestions, possibilities as to what could be the cause of this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't offer you a solution but I do feel that the windows are a weak area on my 2001 E320. I've had to replace three of the motors, two on the back. One window had never even been used and very little use for the other one. I've always kept the rear windows in 'lock' mode so they couldn't be used. I've seen Toyotas and Hondas with 200k miles... and all the windows motors work and still OEM. Kind of embarrassing.
