Heater blower regulator location
My father-in-law's E320 has no heat or A/C so we took it to a local Benz specialist and it was diagnosed as a blower regulator failure, apparently common with this vintage. I figured as much as I did see loads of posts here and on other forums regarding it. We offered to fix it for him as he was out of work at the time due to Covid and he was driving back and forth 30 miles each way to his prostate cancer treatment every day for 40 days straight in the summer with no A/C. But he wouldn't let us, too prideful for that. Fast forward to December, winter is here and it's getting cold in this part of the country. Now he's determined to get it done but he doesn't want to pay the labor bill or pay for the expensive new part. So he's gone to a local junkyard and gotten the part used and he's going to have his friend install it for him. His friend is no MB expert and is an autobody guy by trade but he's pretty sharp generally with cars and does all the work on my FIL's driving school cars, personal cars, etc. The big issue he's having is finding the actual regulator so he can swap it out. I found some really crappy pics online that show them taking the housing apart but they can't find where the housing is to get at it. Per the below, it's under the passenger side carpet but they don't see it. Is there a different place on the 1997 specifically or can you at least tell me where exactly on the passenger side (left, right, forward, back, etc). I'm trying to tell him and his friend over the phone based on bad internet pics and failing.

Try posting your question in the W210 section at Benzworld. There are a number of very knowledgeable W210 owners there who will be more than glad to help you and will likely know where the blower regulator is located. I wish your father in law well with his cancer treatments and hope he's cancer free very soon.
