2001 E430 Differential Noise

2001 E430 Differential Noise
I have a friend who has a 2001 E430 and claims to have a humming, harmonic sound coming from the rear end when accelerating past 60 MPH. The dealership has replaced the differential and the car still makes the sound. Apparently the sound is only noticable after 1-2 hours of driving. I have a 2000 E430 and have never heard the sound in mine other than the tire noise coming from my Goodyear Eagle F1's. I have not personally heard the noise as he lives in the bay area of Calif and I live in So. Calif. This is also not something that I have heard other owners complain of in their E's whether they're E430's or E320's. Any input that you could give me would be appreciated.

I haven't heard any strange noise. Hopefully not !
However, mine was leaking since it was brand new. To be accurate, it's not leaking big time (there is no trace of oil on the floor), but it's leaking... The dealer just fixed it, they changed the gasket... So, I'll keep an eye on that.
