W210 E320 Transmission

A couple of years ago I took off from the lights in my E320 CDI and there was an enormous thump from under the car and suddenly no drive. I've checked that it's not the diff - it's definately the tranny. Any ideas? I rang the bloke at the tranny shop and he said it might be something as simple as a pump - he said those things are pretty robust

Because the car is sitting in my driveway with a tarpaulin on it. I haven't taken it to the shop to get it repaired as I have no idea what costs I'll be up for. The purpose of posting on this forum was hoping that someone might know a little bit about Merc transmissions and might be able to make an educated guess as to what the problem might be.

Based on the replies I've received so far, that appears to be a forlorn hope.

An educated guess = the game of whack-a-mole.
What you need to do is get power to the car and scan for any saved codes, just for starters.
Possibly even prep it, to get it just to crank up and run (not drive) and scan for codes.
Post here.

Could be one of the 2 "flex disks" which serve like U-Joints in US car? That's not that scary a repair as they go I gather from following the forum.
