99 E320 90% highway driving, can I swap to a lower final drive differential?

99 E320: What would it take to swap on a 2.82 over a 3.07 differential?

I have a 99 e320 Benz with a stock differential of 3.07 ratio. If I install a 2.82 differential from a 99 E430, will I have to modify the Tcu, transmission control?

Rust bucket, that’s cute. Mine is in pretty good shape, no rust at all. My husband put in another engine with around 90k miles and it’s running real strong and new tranny fluid too. I love the way it drives and don’t like the feel of the newer e-classes. Hope you understand. Each day I’m doing some serious highway driving so I want to install a lower final drive differential to gain some more mpg’s.
