Problem with air conditioning. Can anyone help?

I've had a problem with the air conditioning of my E220 D. The air didn't came cold. My tech said it was the compressor, so I've had to pay more than €1000 for a new one. About a week later, the air was again not cold, but on the right side, it was just a little bit cold. My tech says it's a gate of the air on the left side. So I'll have to pay another €250 to get it right. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? Thanks for your help.

Try taking it to a Mercedes Dealer. Looks like your tech is just "fishing". There should be no reason you should bring your car in X2 to fix the same problem. The dealers should be able to hook it up to a diagnostic machine to pinpoint the problem. It'll cost you a little more upfront, but the job will be done right the first time.

The first time my tech repaired the air conditioning, it work for about a week. But then it started not to cool the air again. And that's why he says it's another problem, since the compressor now still looks allright. It's seems like I'm in bad luck! But thanks a lot for your interest in helping me!
And by the way, does anyone know how to remove the front panel of the air conditioning? My tech says it will take him about 5 hours to remove it and put in place again.

every now and then A/C gets hotter and hotter as the car being used ,i mean your case is a case that many cars have as well
it could be the compressor, it could be the evap, it could be any other things in the A/C system...
i'd say you better take the car to your dealer for a thorough system check-up
and that's damn right if it doesn't get totally fixed in my first visit, and i have to go back for the same problem, then a pain in the head it is

I've had some AC problems recently and they may help you. First, when the air is cool on the right side and warm on the left, it is a sign of insufficient charge (not enough refrigerant in the system). Your tech should be putting dye in the system to identify the source of the leak. I was told mine is leaking from the compressor and the evaporator and that it will be $4K US to fix it. Needless to say, I just had it recharged and am letting it leak until I decide what to do. I already had the receiver dryer replaced, which I think was a faulty diagnosis -- the problem was leaks all along. It seems to hold for a year, so if all I have to do is put in a little refrigerant each year, it's better than the repair. I also think I need second and maybe third opinions. The technicians, whether dealer or independent, will look you in the eye and lie -- I don't know if it's intentional or if they really just don't know what they are talking about, but the net result to you is the same. Your money is gone and your car is not fixed. Good luck.
