MB E320 Clock Display Problem

The clock (time) display just went out on me. Everything else (odometer, temp. guage, etc.) works just fine in that cluster on the dash. The clock display is still there, but the lighting to it has almost faded away to where you cannot read the time. Any ideas what's involved to fix that?

Thank you!

You have to pull the instrument cluster and replace a bulb. Dealer will do it for over $100; bulb costs just a few bucks. I saw a thread here or on a similar forum showing how to do it - a search should pull it up for you.

Ironically, my center one just went out today ('99 E300; the temp and time are bright, but the odometer is now dim) so I may be doing this as well if it's not covered by Starmark.

I think you'll find it is just one of the bulbs in the instrument cluster that has gone, cheap and quick to replace. You probably want to buy the special tools to pull the cluster, not expensive ~ $25.

If you search you should find other references to this problem.

Good luck,

Peter
