Broken Interior door lever

My old gold W210 has come back to me after a few years and it has brought some new issues. The one I am trying to figure out today is the broken interior door lever. The lever that actually opens the door. It has broken off on the inside just below where the cable attaches. I searched the forum but found no joy. I might not have the right words so apologies if this is a much covered topic. In any case a search of the broader internet alludes to either door panel replacement or some sort of DIY maneuver. Scant details seem to be available on both of these notions. Can anyone provide insight?

Thank you in advance.

Here are photos of the lever still dangling useless in the door and the bit that has broken off. Is that what you wanted photos of?

Useless lever.

Broken bit.

the lower photo appears to be a fractured, pot metal dog leg normally a part of the shiny chrome door lever in the upper photo. you can try JBWeld metal binary epoxy first. If that doesn't work PM me but describe what exactly you're needing replaced (as if you're walking into the dealer and describing the part).

or, navigate through the parts diagrams to identify the part number. start with CHASSIS....then to doors...

For my 1999 W210 E55 using the VIN:

www.mbepc.net

Search by "Car", "Model", "Variant". i.e. "Car", "E", "E320 USA".

Note: following are for the 1999 W210.074. Verify against your VIN!

50 A 210 766 01 24
LEVER, INTERIOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY,LEFT 001

50 A 210 766 02 24
LEVER, INTERIOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY,RIGHT 001
