Optima Battery Model# - Mods?
I want to go with an Optima battery (redtop) in my 2000 E430. There does not appear to be a "direct replacement" for the size 49 battery that came with the car. What size/model number have folks used successfully in the W210? Were any mods to the battery or car/wires rquired? If so, what were they?

I installed an Optima red top a while back. You are right, there is no direct replaceement with the big hunk of lead you get from the factory. The stock battery has lots of reserve time. Go here to see a pic of my Optima:

Optima batteries are really underated from the factory. The battery I have is rated at 1/2 of the reserve capacity of the stock one, but it take long while before it will go dead. The CCA is about the same. I don't remember the part #, but I got it from Costco.
