Looking to join the family
7 months ago I was this close to buying a 2000 E320 Wagon, but went for the "reliability" of a new Infiniti FX35. Well it has been in the shop now for 6 weeks straight and Infiniti is buying it back as a lemon, so I've decided that in the great crapshoot that is buying a car, I'm going to go with the one I love. I have been offered a 2001 E320 Wagon with 44k miles, E2 package and heated seats, coming off a lease and now Starmarked, for $28,827. It sounds like a good price to me (I'm in Raleigh, NC), does anyone else think it sounds fair? Carfax checks out, and I need to see the service records and test drive first, but I'm leaning towards closing on it if that all checks out. Thanks in advance for any reponses.

Damn,BRAND NEW,and in the shop already!!!! Anyhow,go over the MB with a fine tooth comb since that's practically 30K you'll be spending sans financing and insurance (if you going that way... 
) But I just don't hear many people take THOSE back!!! Good Luck

Hi Houston!
I just purchased a 2001 E430 in July & love it.
Unfortunately it is currently in the shop getting all 4 doors replaced due to rust under the seals (Easily visable when you peak behind the seal on the door.) Mine had VERY TINY beads of rust & was still under warranty...MB dealer said it is a known flaw on some models & ordered new doors immediately....
So, that may be something you may want to check out when you're looking the car over.
I suppose all cars have their flaws...I was also looking at the Infinity vs MB & the salesman actually told me the MB was more reliable (Infinity is Nissan...I was not aware of that at the time)
Anyway, best of luck & sorry you had to deal with a LEMON! ug what a pain!

Thanks, I'll be sure to check those doors when I do the once-over. I think I'm surely a statistical anomaly with regard to the Infiniti. Especially since it was an engine problem with Nissan's vaunted VQ engine that they have in about half their product line in one form or another, and which Ward's consistently rates in the top ten every year. Must be a sign from above that I was meant to be in a Mercedes all along.
