Speedo below zero help

Hey all, So I was replacing some bulbs and fixing the pixels on the cluster, after I put it back together I noticed the speedo dipped below zero..by about 20mph. I attempted to manually move it, as well as way past zero to get it to re-calibrate...it moves itself back below zero. Disconnected the negative terminal, still no result. Ive just been using the digital to get my self by. Is there a reset procedure I'm missing? Scoured the web for this, couldn't find an exact fix, I'm assuming its electronic, not spring actuated. Any input appreciated.. Car is an 02 E55. thank you!

Matt.

I doubt that you did any harm to the speedo, but mine has a different cluster than yours. I would carefully follow the instructions for removing and reinstalling the needles for the face lift clusters in the various DIY guides. Hopefully if you remove the needle and reinstall it properly, it will work properly.

Think this is a little harsh, replacing bulbs and fixing the ribbon oddly resulted in this, not like i was removing the board entirely to re-solder it. Doing these basic repair shouldn't result in any type of failure, thank you for you considerations though. Attached is a vid of the current problem for maybe a better reference. No matter where the needle is moved, on or off will always reset below the zero mark.

I believe that all you need to do is remove the needle while pulling up while turning counter clockwise. You then reinstall it at about 20 mph and push the needle around to zero. This is the procedure for my pre-facelifted unit. I assume it is the same for yours but I am not sure. What I think you did is installed the needle when the unit was not against the stop.

Got the needle off, installed in this manner it still kept dropping, I ended up winding it counter clockwise, and now seems functional - albeit 1-2 mph off. That doesn't bother me much, its mostly smooth, but gets a little sticky, jutters from time to time, not sure what else to do to remedy this, besides opening it all up, which I dont really want to do. If I needed to swap the cluster, can I just remove the gauge/etc and put it onto the donor board? How will the mileage/odo be set up? Lastly is there a place anyone knows of that I could get this sent out to to get remedied if need be??

Thanks

Matt.
