Snake Pit
Hi everyone. GF bought a '98 W210 wagon for a friend in need. I'm now attempting to make it road worthy with complete fluid changes and repairing other items including inoperable brake lights, and right side front and tail lights.
Looked under the dash (light switch) and replaced the brake light switch with no soap. There is a snakepit of spliced and disconnected wiring under there.
QUESTIONS:
1. Is there a wiring color code to be had in order to see what goes where?
2. The #2 fuse slot (brake lamp) on the side dash panel was Frankensteined together. Trying to remove the fuse box to attempt a repair. Is the fuse box integral to the light switch, or can it come out seperately?
3. Is there a recommendation for an afforadable multimeter?
Any help is appreciated.

I now have the schematic, but the colored wire combinations don't jive. So, riddle me this...how do I find the input & output color combinations for number 2 fuse on the driver side dash?
you can try using the nearby model years...which may suffice as much didn't change in wiring. scroll down to WIRING DIAGRAM

Perhaps I'm missing something, but can't find the dash fuse box (colored wire noted) in the diagrams. Is it not called "fuse box"? If not, how is it termed?
One issue is that the wiring was jury rigged with different than the factory colors.
