Oil pan - Loctite 5970 vs Reinzosil Gasket Maker
So my daughters 2001 E430 has the bad oil sensor warning and I have checked the battery and electrical connection and verified the error with my star. Reading the WIS, it does not seem to be a hard job at all dropping the oil pan given there is nothing in the way and it gives you the exact gasket bead pattern to use on both surfaces for installation.
Only question I have is the use of the sealing material to mate the surfaces. The WIS says to use loctite 5970 and sure enough you can get it from the dealer and other places like fcpeuro. Kind of pricey.
However my question is fcpeuro also recommended this product instead: Reinzosil Gasket Maker 70-31414-10. Its so much less expensive.
Can't find any good comparison other than some German sites that swear by the Reinzosil product. Given this is a once in a blue moon type of repair, I'm leaning to just using that overpriced MB loctite but curious if anyone here has used that Reinzosil product for oil pans?

I went and ordered the Loctite 5970 - cha ching. For now she is just driving it with the warning - I know the oil level is good having just replaced it last weekend and will quickly check every weekend when she comes over. Once all the parts come I'll take care of this. Glad there is a dipstick. Not sure why it went bad. Wondering if its the temp, the car is parked outside and its been freaking cold here (under 0F).
