From Projector to Xenon! Thanks ZAM2000
what if you already have oem xenon from the factory on your car. Our w210 cars have d2r xenon bulbs but the projectors will need d2s bulbs right? Would you not need to change something, ie perhaps the wire that comes from the ballast to the bulb to make it work?
You don't have to change anything. All ballast and wire are made to fit both type, D2S and D2R (except D1S). Some OEM xenon projector is made to fit only D2S. But it's not our case here (H7 projector).

If you have H7 base (halogen H7, for both OEM reflector and Depo projector), both type would fit.
Thanks
We are having trouble with installing the xenon now, cause unfortunately it came with no instructions on how to install them.
I am hoping that you could help me out here.
Do I have to drill any hole on this thing to get the cables in? I dont see any holes where I can get the cables from the ballast in. The power socket on the exterior that lead to the cables of all the 4 bulb seems to be stuck fast!
I will try to get some pic of the assembly. It seems that there are a couple of different version of it I notice.

You will need to drill a hole large enough to fit your wires through the back cover of the light housing. If you go back to page 3 of this thread, you will see how Zam attached the ballast to the back side of the cover, just drill a hole near it and send the wires through.
You don't need to drill any hole, just put the ballast below the light.
However, I don't like the quality...
Here is the website:

Their number is 626-656-2900.
I also saw the same item on ebay, too.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
They look really good.
1. 96-99 Non-xenon: H7 bulb adaptor (better, since it can hold both H7 and D2R/S)
2. 96-99 xenon: have D2S adaptor (can't hold H7), and holder for ballast on bottom.
3. 2000-later Non-xenon
4. 2000-later xenon
The xenon and non-xenon headlight are the same, except for the bulb holder style & ballast holder on the bottom of the xenon-version.
But you can really mount the ballast anywhere, as long as it's secured tightly to the headlight unit & the wire is long enough.
If you need a Depo headlight, let me know. I think I've bought enough from AutoDynamic (8 so far), they will probably give me a discount here and there.
You can just put in the W211 Hella lens and have better light, but's it's best that you calibrate the light-lens angle to have MUCH better light. Some people here already done that and know what I mean.
They look really good.

The shroud won't fit, and you might have to custom mount the projector into the housing.

etc
then all of them don't fit on depo light? for example in the pic below, would i just take out the lens and fit it on the ebay product listed above?
The only two that would fit nicely is the Audi bi-xenon RS6 (not the pre 2002 A6), and Mercedes W211 E55 xenon, or W211 projector (some work to fit both of them in), since the Depo one is based on these projector dimension (copy).
You can get any of these projectors from eBay, forum, or contact me. I have a load of RS6, E55 bi-xenon, and W211 projector.

All of the H7 phiilps or any other brand is only good if you compare them within the halogen domain, xenon is very much in its own league in color, brightness, and illumination down the road

1. Buy the new depo projector, retrofit Hella lens (a must !!) and D2S bulb, and use existing xenon ballast. Sell your existing headlight (not much value), or keep it around.
2. Selling your existing xenon headlight (you'll probably fetch about $400-600 for it depend on condition). Buy new Depo projector, retrofit Hella lens, D2S bulbs, and xenon ballast.
I recommend the later option. In the last few months, I have helped retrofitting ~ 10 set of headlights for the W210. 4 out of them have OEM xenon, one selected first options, the other three went with the later. The auto leveling will not working anymore, but I don't think that's a big deal.
You can find most of the part on eBay or HID forum, and do the job yourself (not that bad, just need careful planning), I also have most of the part and offer the service of xenon & lens retrofitting into Depo headlight. I can also get you most of the part & Depo headlight have you decided to DIY.
My email is hhbk@yahoo.com if you need more detail.
